On Saturday 17th August (weather permitting) Joe Varley will lead a walk around the village centre with a commentary on places of historical interest. A great opportunity to learn more about the Malahide of yesteryear.
These walks have proved very popular in the past, being both informative and entertaining. Meet in front of the library at 3 pm. The duration will be approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
On Monday 19th August Roger Greene, in association with Malahide Library, will give a talk entitled "Talbot's Great Cotton Mill at Yellow Walls". Richard Talbot of Malahide Castle established a large cotton spinning spinning enterprise, with supporting trades, in 1782 at Barrack Bridge, Yellow Walls. Power was supplied by a giant water wheel and up to 1,000 people were to be employed. The talk will commence at 7 pm upstairs in the library and last about 40 minutes.
